WELCOME TO LITERACY TOGETHER 

I love the exciting nature of my work!  In my sessions, students feel supported and are met at their unique levels in order to become open to learning.  Literacy Together uses a multisensory approach known as Orton-Gillingham. The students enjoy learning and I love teaching them! As a result, students acquire the strategies needed to succeed in all areas of literacy.

The Orton-Gillingham approach is multi-sensory, direct, systematic, cumulative, and individualized for each student. It is most properly understood and practiced as an approach and not a curriculum. Orton-Gillingham has been scientifically proven to be effective for ALL students, and necessary for students with dyslexia.

Multisensory strategies make learning fun. Students should expect to play with their fingers in shaving cream, stand as they “stretch” their muscles to sound out words, and use manipulatives to understand language and develop reading strategies. I teach the way kids learn best! Teaching students through this supportive approach strengthens multisensory associations and enables stronger channels of learning.  By using this approach, I train or retrain the brain to develop more efficient pathways to learning.  This improves working memory and leads to significant strides in reading. 

Each individualized lesson plan utilizes a multisensory approach to build skills in phonological awareness area, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

 For your child to reach the fastest and greatest growth, one-on-one tutoring, two times per week is suggested.  Lessons are in-person or virtual.  Each lesson is explicit, systematic, sequential, multi-sensory, and individualized to your child's needs.  Lessons are 50 minutes
